The thoughtful element of gardening – idealization and the dreamed garden – forms the basis for my ideas. Working from architectural herbaceous plants and shapes found in the garden I aim to make paintings that combine simple composition with a strong sense of design and colour. My love of rich reds, pinks and purples finds a natural outlet in such subjects and I find the brilliance of gesso board the ideal medium for these paintings.
